Subject: Opposition to Incineration To whom it may concern, I am writing in regards to the COMM.582.39: Solid Waste Reduction Project. I am completely OPPOSED to this incineration plant in Hilo Hawaii or anywhere on the Big Island or in the world for that matter. I grew up near Spokane Washington, and the incinerator there has not been successful, has jeapordized the health of neighborhoods with toxic waste, and there is documenation to prove that no matter what rules and regulations are promised to the people...there is always the possibility of unlawful burns for MONEY. I moved to this pristine island for BETTER health, not another incinerator. I own my home and am a taxpayer and am abhorred to think this will happen here, because of a handful of poorly educated people, making SERIOUS long term decisions for all of us. Garbage incineration is unacceptable in this day and age. Safer, lower cost alternatives need to given consideration. Why waste time and money on a plan that ALREADY has known TOXIC releases ...contaminating our AINA and our most valuble resource..OUR CHILDREN and people?? Please, do not go forward with this plan, when Hilo Hawaii could be the finest example of CLEAN SAFE alternative recycling, ZERO WASTE facilty.
