Aloha Mr. Hoffman:
I am writing to you today to express my deep concern over the progress of the superferry coming to our
island. I have read as much as possible about both sides of the issue and I am convinced that there is no
question that the risks of this project far outweigh any proposed benefits. The possibility that the
Superferry crossing may interfere with the annual whale migration, including potential injury and killing
of these magnificent creatures, seems to me to be a high priority issue and one that requires a thorough
study and careful attention. In addition I believe that the traffic and congestion which this project would
place upon the already challenged infrastrusture of Kawaihae/Waimea is yet another high priority topic
that should be carefully and completely investigated prior to the granting of this Superferry access.
I urge you to continue your effort to request and receive more information on the impact of this project
before allowing it to go any further. I thank you for your attention to this matter so far and truly hope
that you will be able to continue to look out for the health and well being of the inhabitants of this island
and those precious sea creatures throughout the state's waterways.
Please let me know if there is anything more I can personally do to help in the movement to delay or
deny access of the superferry to Kawaihae Harbor.
Mahalo,
Zettelyss Amora
