Subject: for Committee hearing on the Hawaii Super Ferry
Aloha!
I'm not sure which Committee is hearing the request to urge the State to do an EIS before
allowing the SuperFerry to launch on Hawaii Island. You've heard all kinds of likely
problems with it coming here. Each is a grave concern:
- overfishing
- contamination from other islands' environmental and ecological problems
- "our" coqui frogs going to other islands
- over collection of maile
- over-collection of opihi
- too many vehicles on our roads without adequate infrastructure and
forethought of how to deal with them
- probable killing of humpback whales which are a great resource of tourist
dollars to Hawaii Island (let alone to the Earth)
Please totally support calling for an EIS.
