Subject: Delete F2 Amendment
To: The Hawaii County Council, reviewing Bill 309 - Amendment F-2 in HILO for Tuesday,
October 24th at 2PM.
I am a resident of Captain Cook and I wish to strongly oppose any changes that go against
the goals to preserve agricultural land in South Kona as expressed in the long-range General
Plan [GP] of February 2005.
Specifically, I urge the council to DELETE the Proposed F-2 Amendment to the General Plan Land
Use Pattern [LUPAG Map] because it will change almost 100 acres above Kealakekua Bay from
"Important Agriculture" Land Use Designation to "Rural" Land Use. Unfortunately, 'Rural' Land Use
can be rezoned to permit 9,000 square foot lots and commercial use, basically a suburban
subdivision right above Kealakekua Bay. This goes against the goals to preserve agricultural
land in South Kona as expressed in the long-range General Plan [GP] of February 2005.
Kealakekua Bay is a precious marine preserve that is treasured by the people of Hawaii and visitors.
Allowing more congestion to encroach of the beautiful area will diminish its beautiful the endanger the
marine life that is suppose to be protected.
Please delete the Propose F-2 Amendment to the General Plan.
