The authority of Public Law 106-291, Title IV, Wildland Fire Appropriations for the Department of the Interior and Related Agencies Act, 2001, which states, in part, the Department of the Interior will provide rural fire assistance. The National Park Service may provide technical assistance, training supplies, materials, equipment, and participate in interagency prevention and educational activities on a cost share basis. The maximum allowable contribution from the Department of the Interior per Rural Fire Department per year is established at $20,000. The cost share basis is 90/10.
