EXPLANATION (Provide complete explanation):
A transfer of funds is needed to purchase three vehicles from the State of Hawaii Surplus Property Office. Parks
Maintenance will be purchasing a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and a 2000 Ford F150 Pick up. One vehicle will replace
their 1996 Chevy Corsica and the other will be used as a loaner vehicle. The Corsica will be transferred to the
DPW Automotive Division for use by departments needing transportation between the County buildings.
Panaewa Zoo wi{l be purchasing a 2000 Chevy S ] 0 Pick up to replace their 1996 Dodge Dakota. These surplus
vehicles have low mileage and are in good condition. It is more cost effective to purchase these surplus vehicles
at a reasonable cost than purchase brand new vehicles. Funds are available in the Parks Maintenance Misc
Contract Services account as funding needed for painting projects will be less than budgeted estimates. Funds
are available in the Panaewa Zoo Repairs to Facilities account as new cages have been purchased -moving
animals to these cages will eliminate the need to repair the wire mesh of the existing cages.
