Higa, Chairman and Members of the Hawai'i County Council t~ Hawai'i County Council 25 Aupuni Street T - Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 Co cn Re: Acceptance of Donations o In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai'i County Code, which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the following donations: A monetary donation of $100 to the Department of Parks & Recreation, to be used towards the maintenance of the West Hawai'i Veterans Cemetery, by Mr. Ronan S. Fukushima, P.O. Box 423, Holualoa, Hawai'i 96725. A company of parrots: including two (2) Catalina Macaws; two (2) Military Macaws; two (2) Yellow-Collar Macaws; one (1) Scarlet Macaw, three (3) Blue and Gold Macaws; one (1) Ruby Macaw; one (1) Blue and Gold x Military Macaw; and one (1) Cockatoo; (total estimated value of $20,000.00) to the Department of Parks & Recreation's Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, by Harold and Carol Furtado, 631 H6'aka Road, Hilo, Hawai'i 96720. A variety of ceramic art supplies (total estimated value of $3,000) to the Department of Parks & Recreation, for use in ceramic classes, by Mrs. Peggy Wipperman, 453 B Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawai'i 96720. One (1) lifeguard rescue buoy (total estimated value of $50) to the Department of Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division, to be used for training youth participants of the Junior Lifeguard Program, by Ms. Carol Elliott, 75-648 Huaai Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 96740.
