RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF LOT 3-A-1-B OF THE
KEALAKEHE HOMESTEADS, FIRST SERIES, SITUATE AT KEALAKEHE,
DISTRICT OF NORTH KONA, COUNTY AND STATE OF HAWAII, IDENTIFIED
AS TAX MAP KEY: (3)7-4-003:PORTION OF 009, FROM DON MAU SODERGREN
AND MAGGIE MAKALEKA KAONOHI SODERGREN, CO-TRUSTEES
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, Don Mau Sodergren and Maggie Makaleka Kaonohi Sodergren, as
Co-Trustees of their Revocable Living Trust (hereinafter, "Mr. &Mrs. Sodergren"), are
the owners of Lot 3-A-1-B, containing an area of 397 square feet, more or less, of the
Kealakehe Homesteads, First Series, situate at Kealakehe, in the District of North Kona,
County and State of Hawaii, identified as Tax Map Key: (3)7-4-003: portion of 009, and
delineated on Exhibit "1" attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, Lot 3-A-1-B is located at the northeast corner of the intersection of
Mamalahoa Highway and a Homestead Road, which intersection is maintained by the
County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of this parcel will allow the County of Hawaii to better
maintain the right-of--way at said intersection, for public safety and convenience; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Sodergren are desirous of donating the subject parcel
to the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides
that the council may accept gifts, which include the donation of land on behalf of the
County of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the
Hawaii County Charter, the County of Hawaii accepts Lot 3-A-1-B, containing an area
of 397 square feet, more or less, of the Kealakehe Homesteads, First Series, situate at
Kealakehe, in the District of North Kona, County and State of Hawaii, identified as Tax
Map Key: (3)7-4-003: portion of 009, and delineated on Exhibit "1" attached hereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. & Mrs.
Sodergren.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to:
(1) Mayor Harry Kim; (2) Planning Director Chris Yuen; (3) Director of Public Works
Bruce McClure; and (4) Deputy Corporation Counsel Ivan Torigoe
