BOWLES AND BILL ROSEHILL TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FIRE COMMISSION From Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 9, 2006, requesting the confirmation of the appointment of the following individuals to the County of Hawaii Fire Commission. Mr. Stephen P. Bowles of Council District 1 is a lifelong resident of Hawai `i, and is employed as ahydro-geologist. He is a member of the Waimea Community Association's Traffic Safety Committee, Planning Committee, Community Planned Development Committee and the Waimea Water Round Table. Mr. Bowels states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. Mr. Bill Kosehill of Council District 7 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is a retired land manager/forester and is president of the Kona Athletic Club, a member of the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association and a board member of Moku O Hawai `i. Mr. Rosehill states that he is not affiliated with any political parry. If confzrmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. //awai'i Counry~ is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer PSPRC-23 Page 2 October 30, 2006 Comm. 1133: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER I5, ARTICLE 7, OF THE HAWAII (Bi11351) COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION), RELATING TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE From Councilman, Bob Jacobson, dated October 10, 2006, transmitting the above bill. The key amendments in the bill are 1) clarifies that in addition to 16 members there are two ex-officio members with no voting power; 2) includes the entire island when filling the slot for the Military Order of the Purple Heart as it has now changed to an islandwide organization, and reduces four independent slots to three since one is being designated to Korean War Veterans; 3) removes Section 15-62(f) regarding ex-officio members as it is now included in a previous section (Section 15-61 -Organization). A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to communicate with public officials." {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaii County Code}.
