A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL'S SINCERE
GRATITUDE TO COUNCIL MEMBER GARY SAFARIK FOR HIS YEARS OF
SERVICE TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, GARY SAFARIK has been a Council Member of the County of Hawaii
since 2000 representing Council District 5, Puna Makai (Hawaiian Paradise Park, Ainaloa, Pahoa
Village, Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Shores, Nanawale, Leilani, Kapoho, Kalapana, `Opihikao,
Kehena, Pohoiki); and
WHEREAS, during these past six years, Council Member Safarik has participated on all
Standing Committees and served as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Finance (2002-2006),
Chair of the Committee on Parks and Environmental Management (2002-2003), Chair of the
Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations (2003-2004), Chair of the County
Council (2004-2005), Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation (2005),
and Chair of the Committee on Environmental Management (2005-2006); and
WHEREAS, Council Member Safarik has consistently and unwaveringly demonstrated
personal dedication, leadership, integrity, commitment to excellence, and outstanding public
service to his constituents and to the general public throughout the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Council Member Safarik will complete his term of office at Noon on
Monday, December 4, 2006, having compiled an exemplary attendance and voting record for all
Council meetings held during his years in office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it hereby extends its sincere gratitude to Council Member Safarik for his
years of service, and offers its best wishes for his continued health, success and prosperity.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit a true
copy of this resolution to Council Member Gazy Safazik.
