RESOLUTION NO. X40 t.6
A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL'S SINCERE
GRATITUDE TO COUNCIL MEMBER JAMES Y. ARAKAKI FOR HIS YEAR5 OF
SERVICE TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, JAMES Y. ARAKAKI has been a Council Member of the County of
Hawaii since 1990 representing Council District 3, South Hilo (Waiakea Uka and Waiakea
Homestead) and Puna (Kea`au); and
WHEREAS, during these past sixteen (16) years, Council Member Arakaki has
participated on all standing committees and served as Council Chair (1996-2004), Council Vice
Chair (1996), and Chair of the Committee on Finance (1992-1994, 1995-1996); and
WHEREAS, Council Member Arakaki has consistently and unwaveringly demonstrated
personal dedication, leadership, integrity, commitment to excellence, and outstanding public
service to his constituents and to the general public throughout the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Council Member Arakaki will complete his term of office at Noon on
Monday, December 4, 2006, having compiled an exemplary attendance and voting record for all
Council meetings held during his years in office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it hereby extends its sincere gratitude to Council Member James Y. Arakaki
for his years of service, and offers its best wishes for his continued health, success and
prosperity.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit a true
copy of this resolution to Council Member James Y. Arakaki.
