Honorable K. Angel Pilago, Chair
HAWAI'I COUNTY COUNCIL
COMMITTEE ON PLANNING D
Ben Franklin Building -
333 Kilauea Avenue, 2nd Floor
Hilo, HI 96720
Dear Chair Pilago:
SUBJECT: SCENIC CORRIDORS, BILL 231 (2002-2004 TERM)
Thank you for considering the proposed bill to establish a program to create scenic
corridors in Hawaii County. I will be at the meeting on Nov. 28th to answer questions
about this bill.
I would like to request that the council amend Bill 231 by eliminating the requirement in
sec. 25-6-61(g) that a scenic corridor be at least three miles long. It has been suggested
that this unnecessarily restricts potential scenic corridors. The actual decision about the
length of a particular scenic corridor can be left to the time when the corridor is created.
Sincerely,
CHRISTOPHER EN
