HomeMy WebLinkAboutREP PSPRC 038 10/30/2006 2004-2006 REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND PARKS AND RECREATION DATE: October 30, 2006 Re: Communication No. 1128 PLACE: Council Chambers Ben Franklin Bldg. 333 Kilauea Ave., 2"d Floor TIME: 1:30 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation, to which was referred Communication No.1128, reports as follows: Communication No. 1128, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 9, 2006 requests the confirmation of the appointments of Mr. Stephen P. Bowles and Mr. Bill Rosehill to the County of Hawaii Fire Commission. Mr. Bowles of Council District 1 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is employed as a hydro- geologist. He is a member of the Waimea Community Association's Traffic Safety Committee, Planning Committee, Community Planned Development Committee and the Waimea Water Round Table. Mr. Bowles states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. Mr. Rosehill of Council District 7 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is a retired land manager/forester and is president of the Kona Athletic Club, a member of the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association and a boazd member of Moku O Hawaii. Mr. Rosehill states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida apologized for their absence as there seems to have been a miscommunication on the part of his office to properly notify them. He assured the Council that they will be present for their confirmation at full Council. Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 1128 and recommends confirmation of the appointments of Mr. Stephen P. Bowles and Mr. Bill Rosehill to the County of Hawaii Fire Commission for terms endin December 31, 2010.
