Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication No. 1161/Reso. No. 507-06 reports as follows:
Resolution 507-06, transmitted by, Council Member Fred Holschuh via Communication No.
1161, dated October 3, 2006, transmits a resolution requesting the Hawaii County Council's
support for the Partnership Development of anOff-Highway Vehicle Riding Facility in the
Hamakua District.
The purpose of this resolution is to support the development of a paztnership of appropriate
groups and agencies to develop and maintain a riding facility in Hamakua for off-highway
vehicles. Some of the partners should include but not be limited to; the surrounding residents,
the community at lazge, members of the riding community, County of Hawaii Parks and
Recreation Department, and the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Members of the public as well as Council Member Holschuh and his staff have discussed this
with the Mayor who is in support of the idea.
Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Resolution No. 507-06 and recommends its adoption.
