No. 1168 PLACE: Council Chambers TIME: 9:00 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1168, reports as follows: Communication No. 1168, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated October 30, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of donations from Mr. Ronan S. Fukushima, Harold and Carol Furtado, Mrs. Peggy Wipperman and Ms. Carol Elliott. Mr. Ronan S. Fukushima has graciously donated $100.00 to the Department of Pazks & Recreation to be used towards the maintenance of the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Hazold and Cazol Furtado have graciously donated a company of parrots: including two (2) Catalina Macaws; two (2) Military Macaws; two (2) Yellow-Collar Macaws; one (1) Scazlet Macaw, three (3) Blue and Gold Macaws; one (1) Ruby Macaw; one (1) Blue and Gold x Military Macaw; and one (1) Cockatoo to the Department of Parks & Recreation's Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo. The value of these donations is estimated at $20,000.00. Mrs. Peggy Wipperman has graciously donated a variety of ceramic art supplies to the Department of Parks & Recreation, for use in ceramic classes. The value of these donations is estimated at $3,000.00. Ms. Carol Elliott has graciously donated One (1) lifeguard rescue buoy to the Department of Parks & Recreation's Aquatics Division, to be used for training youth participants of the Junior Lifeguard Program. The value of these donations is estimated at $50.00. Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 3Q Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval. Letters of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Ronan S. Fukushima, P.O. Box 423, Holualoa, Hawaii 96725; Harold and Carol Furtado, 631 Ho`aka Road, Hilo, Hawaii 96720; Mrs. Peggy Wipperman, 453 B Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720; and Ms. Carol Elliott, 75-648 Huaai Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging these generous donations. FC REPORT NO. 364 Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $100 donation from Mr. Ronan S.
