Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 520-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 520-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1179, dated October 31, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Don Mau
Sodergren and Maggie Makaleka Kaonohi Sodergren, Co-Trustees.
Don Mau Sodergren and Maggie Makaleka Kaonohi Sodergren, as Co-Trustees of their
Revocable Living Trust (hereinafter, "Mr. & Mrs. Sodergren"), are the owners of Lot 3-A-1-B,
containing an area of 397 square feet, more or less, of the Kealakehe Homesteads, First Series,
situate at Kealakehe, in the District of North Kona, County and State of Hawaii, identified as
Tax Map Key: (3)7-4-003: portion of 009. Lot 3-A-1-B is located at the northeast corner of the
intersection of Mamalahoa Highway and a Homestead Road, which intersection is maintained by
the County of Hawaii.
Mr. & Mrs. Sodergren have graciously donated Lot 3-A-1-B to the County of Hawaii to better
maintain the right-of--way at said intersection, for public safety and convenience.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Don Mau Sodergren and Maggie Makaleka Kaonohi
Sodergren, 74-4963A Mamalahoa Hwy, Holualoa, Hawaii 96725, acknowledging this generous
donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 520-06
and recommends its adoption.
