Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 450-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 450-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1058, dated September 1, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Andrews
Athletic Association.
The Andrews Athletic Association has graciously donated twelve (12) post pads and fifteen (15)
bleacher pads to the Department of Parks & Recreation for use at the Andrews Gym. The post
pads will be used to cover the gym support posts and the bleacher pads will be used to cover the
top of the first bleacher level. This will ensure the safety of the children as the bleachers and
posts are very close to the baselines. The value of this donation is estimated at $3,417.35.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Wayne Yamauchi, President, Andrews Athletic
Association, 546 Mohouli Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 450-06
and recommends its adoption.
