Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 343, reports as follows:
Bill No. 343, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 1098,
dated September 26, 2006, amends Ordinance No. 06-80, as amended, the Capital Budget,
ending June 30, 2007, by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS:
Traffic Signs and Markings for Road 110.399.5399.23 $600,000
Safety Improvements
Funds for these projects shall be provided from:
Highway Fund -Fund Balance and/or other Sources $600,000
This project provides the funding for new projects such as Safety Improvements Projects,
redesign of existing roadway geometries, and pavement resurfacing requiring installation of new
signage and thermoplastic reflective markings. This funding will come from the Highway Fund
- Fund Balance and possibly from Councilmembers' discretionary funds to cover projects that
are unanticipated at the time of budget preparation.
Pursuant to Section 10-6(d), Hawai`i County Charter, the Council may amend the Capital Budget
for that year with atwo-thirds vote.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 343 and
recommends it pass first reading.
