Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 470-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 470-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1099, dated September 26, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the City and
County of Honolulu.
The City and County of Honolulu has graciously transferred six (6) buses to Hawaii County,
which allows Mass Transit Agency to expand routes and provide public transportation for
Hawaii County. The value of this donation is stimated at $10,800.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mayor Mufi Hannemann, City and County of Honolulu,
530 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813, acknowledging this generous donation.
Thomas Brown, Director of Mass Transit Agency, clarified that the donation is for all shipping
charges.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 470-06
and recommends its adoption.
