This will acknowledge your inquiry to Sergeant James Sanborn
on November 18, 1997, before the Committee on Finance,
seeking the District assignments for the five new Community
Policing officers under the COPS Universal Hiring Supplement
Program.
The newly created positions were assigned on October 20,
1997, to the Districts of Hamakua, Ka'u, Puna, South Kohala
and Kona. The Districts of North Hilo and North Kohala are
supplemented by the adjoining officers assigned to Hamakua
and South Kohala, respectively.
