REVISED
This grant involves nine new Community Police Officer
positions. They have been tentatively earmarked for the
districts of:
South Hilo 4
Kona 3 *
North Hilo 1
North Kohala 1
Total: 9
If approved, this will afford representation in ALL districts
and bring the total number of Community Policing Officers
to 23, and their respective assignments to the following
districts:
South Hilo 8
Kona 7 *
Puna 2
South Kohala 2
North Hilo 1
Hamakua 1
Kau 1
North Kohala 1
Total 23
* Note: One each from South Hilo and Kona will
eventually be reallocated to serve as
supervisors of the program in East and
West Hawaii respectively.
These personnel allocations were based in part on crime
incidences, projected trends, and population both estimated and
de facto.
We will have representatives available to answer questions on
these grants at the Finance Committee meeting.
If there are additional concerns during the interim, please
feel free to contact my office at 961-2244.
