Council members will on Wednesday take up on final <br /> reading Bill 251 calling for Carr's 108.2-acre parcel neighboring Malulani Gardens subdivision to be <br /> rezoned from agricultural (A-5a) to residential and agricultural (RA-1a) and multiple family residential <br /> (RM-3.5). <br /> When the rezoning was first considered two weeks ago, it was approved with a 5-4 vote, with the five <br /> council members favoring the project all from East Hawaii. East Hawaii members have no business <br /> supporting this development over the objections of the West side council members unless they are <br /> listening to their campaign contributors rather than the residents of Kona that oppose this development <br /> prior to it's review by the Kona Community Development Steering Committee.
