August 22, 2006
Cf)
i
Council Chair and Council Members =
22 Aupuni St. r-a rv
Hilo, HI 96720

Dear Councilman Higa, r
First of all, my name is Alyssa Vidad and I am a junior at Falb High
School. In my Participation in Democracy class, my teacher Ms. D6-Fh
brought up the subject of Bill 300. Together we read the newspaper
article from Hawaii Tribune Herald about drinking at beach parks. At
16, I feel the government officials of Hawaii should consider the
opinions of teenagers my age. Every student in Hawaii will eventually
become an adult and lead those younger than us.

Bill 300 is a possible solution for a better Hawaii, but I believe it
shouldn't be passed as a new law. I know alcohol causes problems, but
they don't occur very often. We are living in Hawaii, a state that
overflows with beautiful beaches for people to enjoy. Alcohol
consumption should be allowed at beach parks, but can also be
prohibited during specific hours. This way both sides, for & against the
ban, can be happy and satisfied.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Please share my letter with the other council members.

Sincerely,

At*- M.
