More often, public response in any given situation is negative; therefore, I am compelled to
respond to your current animal control bill. Months ago, I rallied and voiced my opinion about
how poorly the bill you were attempting to pass was written. It lacked general understanding of
the behavior of animals and how we as humans co-exist with them in today's society.
Many other citizens had negative responses covering different aspects of the old bill. This bill
covers a large scope affecting a huge cross section of individual interests. I don't believe you
will ever be able to fine-tune it to satisfy all. However, it is admirable and commendable that
such effort on the part of the council was put forth to change and make it better. While I am not
100% satisfied with the bill in its entirety, it is a good bill. It is also superior to our current law.
As a representative of responsible dog owners, I feel that we would agree that responsibility
includes not only training our dogs to be good citizens, but also respecting others by not
infringing on their rights. In passing this current bill you will be reinforcing responsibility.
Irresponsibility will always opt for a way out, no rules, no consequence.
I urge you to vote in favor of this bill. Thank you for your time.
