RE: Bill 309 (Draft 4): Mostly in favor, with exceptions (Wainaku Map land use changes)
Greetings,
I commend the planners who submitted mostly good proposals within Bill 309, the GP revision, as
shown on the maps related to zoning changes in East Hawaii. I was delighted to see that most of the
uses were preserved or enhanced by corrected zoning to lower densities and to encourage more
agricultural or conservation uses. Your efforts have been noticed, and are appreciated.
The exception, the one thing I don't understand, is found on the Wainaku Area map. It looks like a
good idea was introduced (B-3), to have Important Ag Lands preserved. But then it looks like the idea
was scrapped, later to morph into low density urban. Is there a justifiable need to take this ag land out
of production?
Thank yo
