Dear Chair H3ga and members of the Hawaii County Council:
I have been President of Kai'Opua Canoe Club for five years and a long-
standing member. I support Jacoby Development's plans to build a new-:,
harbor and Bill 309, initiated by Planning Director, Chris Yuen. `

Formed in 1929, Kai'Opua Canoe Club is one of the oldest outrigger canoe
clubs in the Stare of Hawaii and has a membership of over 300 avid canoe
paddlers, including adults and kids.
Over the past few years, our kids program has grown Immensely- Ask those
who know me through out the canoe club and more tljan likely they'll tell
you that more often that not, I take it upon myself to npt only mentor and
teach kids sport of canoe paddling, but also teach the kids about
accountability and responsibility-
In addition to the obvious community benefits Jacoby ;Development will
bring to Komi, I am very supportive of the project's educational
opportunine:.- The marine science center and health atrad wellness component
will provide a place to teach and spark interest, an important key to Kona's
forward progress.
I ask you to support of Bill 309 and the opportunities 9 project like this will
bring to the kids of this community.
