Aloha, my name is Tien Austin and I fully support the smoking ban at Kahalu'u
Beach Park for the fallowing reasons:
Do you like going to the beach only to find that you are sitting inside a cloud of
second hand smoke? No, I didn't think so. Not only is this annoying but also harmful to
the people around the smoker, and the organisms that live on the beach and in the water.
There are about 3,000 + chemicals in second hand smoke that can cause cancer, although
there are less chemicals in the filter its self, cause the filter, filters out some of those
chemicals. Also once the filters have been thrown onto the beach it takes an average of I-
15 years to degrade, so there for, they are there a very long time, this is VERY dangerous
to the organisms. I hope you will support the banning of tobacco use oat this beach Thank
you for your time.
