I have been at Kahalu' u Park many times for picnics, snorkeling etc. and the sand there is littered and filthy with cigarette butts. Not only is this unsightly and unsanitary, but all this poisonous material tobacco, additives, filter material, and paper soon washes into the ocean where it pollutes and adds toxic matter into our marine ecosystem. Cigarettes on the ground can poison the fish in the sea and the coral. A ban and a big fine area very good idea. One day let's take this further and ban and fine cigarette smoking and tobacco use in all county parks. One thing I would like you to do if you pass this ordinance is to make a pleasant and attractive sign and post it in several places. Better yet: have several large attractive signs with rules of the park posting in conspicuous places. Thank you. Please let me know how this turns out.
