Arakaki and Members of the Council County of Hawaii 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Dear Council Chairman and Members: Re: Pazkine Meter Moratorium in Downtown Hilo My husband has been an employee with the Pazking Meter Division of the Department of Public Works for the past 14 years. Most of my concerns are personal, however, please take a few minutes to consider the following regarding the elimination of parking meters in downtown Hilo. 1. The DIA is requesting this change. The DIA has also prepared, collected and compiled the questionnaire on which you will basing your decision. Will a questionnaire by a neutral party also be provided? 2. How many businesses are DIA members? Do all members want this change? How many businesses in downtown Hilo do not belong to the DIA? What percent ofnon-DIA members want the free pazking? How many businesses (DIA or not) have said that their business has greatly improved due to the free parking? 3. Has there been any complaints from the public during this trial period? Is it harder to find parking? Any complaints from the business owners? Whatever the final outcome maybe, thank you in advance for allowing me to express my concerns regarding this matter. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, 6oorn. tVw 5 7 ~ . d ~ nl~ xo. Tie.F _ )WS ~ presented f~ VJ P C. ~!N I v
