Neighborhood Place of Puna has been a member of the CAP committee
for over three years. During this time, we have worked hard to
bring to fruition a one-stop facility to serve the homeless in the
Kona area. The final hurdle is the licensing that will authorize
the Office of Social Ministry (OSM) to occupy the Friendly Place as
the program operator. These services are sorely needed - especially
in West Hawaii, where there are few services for homeless families.
As a Neighborhood Place, we also work closely with the Neighborhood
Place of Kona and they have many families who could use the help
that the Friendly Place will offer. Thank you for considering this
testimony because without this license this program cannot exist.
