Ladies and Gentlemen of the County Council;
For the four years that I have lived on the Big Island, we have anticipated the construction of a Drop- in
Center for the Homeless. The Friendly Place has now become a reality for those who need it so badly. I
would ask you, therefore, to pass a resolution today allowing the Office of Social Ministry to occupy the
Friendly Place as its program operator. Through my daily observation their work at Care-A-Van, I
believe the staff of OSM have shown both competence and compassion in their ability to work with the
homeless.
Thank you very much for your consideration in this matter.
