Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 535-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 535-06, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 364 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 1209, dated November 13, 2006, authorizes the receipt
and expenditure of state funding appropriated by the State Legislature pursuant to Act 100,
Session Laws of Hawaii 2006.
The State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 100, Session Laws of Hawaii 2006, which
appropriated, in part, $80,000 to the County of Hawai`i`s Department of Parks and Recreation
and to be used for to purchase two minivans to provide transportation services to the elderly
homeless and disabled.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 535-06
and recommends its adoption.
