Thanks to the efforts of the Hilo Downtown Improvement Association (DIA) and the
Hawaii County Council, customers, merchants and employees have not been rcyuired to
feed the pnrking meters In Downtown over the past several months.
The DiA has been charged with reporting back to the County Council on the impact this
moratorium nn motor (ace has End nn pnrking nvnilnbllity, retail Incomo and ovcrnil
activity in Downtown. Thus, your consiAcration and response to the following yucstions

'7) As Hilo grows and on-street parking becomes more scarce, there may bo a need (o
consider more regular enforcement of those abusing parking regulations or
alternatives such as creating additional long-term parking lots or structures for
employee pnrking.
