Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating a $9,500 grant from the U.S.
Department of Energy, through the Hawaii State Department of Business,
Economic Development and Tourism for a Motor Challenge program aimed at
promoting the use of more efficient electric motors in commercial and
industrial systems. The funds will be used to hire a consultant to evaluate
energy efficiency measures for the facilities of the Wastewater Division,
Depaztment of Public Works, County of Hawaii.
Also enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute the agreement
with the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism for this
program.

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 174, reports as follows:
Bill No. 174 transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 200, by Finance Duector Harry Takahashi,
dated, November 19, 1997, via Communication No. 611, amends Ordinance 97-83, as amended,
the Operating Budget ending June 30, 1998.
The amendment is as follows:

These funds will be used to hire a consultant to evaluate energy efficiency measures for the

recommends it pass first reading.
