RE: Confirmation of M. Casey Jarman ~
It is an honor to submit this letter in strong support of the appointment an
confirmation of M. Casey Jarman as the County of Hawai'i's next County=Clerkr
Professor Jarman's accomplishments in Hawai'i's legal community are
well documented. She is founder and co-director of the Environmental Law
Program at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii
at Manoa. Professor Jarman has co-edited two books concerning the
empowerment of native Hawaiian communities to participate more fully in
environmental issues in our State. She has also assisted those in need in our
community by producing a video, CD and workbook on lawyering skills for
citizens who represent themselves in quasi-judicial proceedings before
administrative agencies.
My colleagues at the Office of the Corporation Counsel who attended law
school in Hawaii and who were taught by Professor Jarman speak highly of her
integrity, intelligence, and fairness. We look forward to working with Professor
Jarman during the upcoming Council term.
