RESOLUTION NO. 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $2,500 TO THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Kona, as part of their "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, has donated $2,500
to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this donation will be used by the department to promote safety awareness relating to its
mission of providing Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and to purchase educational
materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week in the month of October
and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in the month of May; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $2,500.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Mr.
John Yates, Manager, Wal-Mart Kona, 75-1015 Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging this
generous donation.
