RESOLUTION NO. 24 t)7
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM
THE WAIKOLOA VILLAGE ASSOCIATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF SMART
SIGNS FOR INSTALLATION IN WAIKOLOA VILLAGE.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Waikoloa Village Association at their
monthly meeting on October 24, 2006 authorized a donation of $10,000 to the County of
Hawaii to be used for the purchase of two Smart Signs for installation in Waikoloa Village;
and
WHEREAS, these Smart Signs will be used to help control speeding on Paniolo
Drive in Waikoloa Village by alerting drivers of their vehicle speed in real time; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 19-07 allocates a matching $10,000 contribution toward the
purchase of Smart Signs for Waikoloa Village from the contingency relief account for
Council District 9; and
WHEREAS, the Waikoloa Village Association donation comprises half the cost of
two Smart Signs and completes the funding necessary for this purchase by the Hawaii
County Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that
the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifrs or donations; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works recommends the acceptance of this
donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii
County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution and a letter of appreciation
be sent to Mr. John Tarson, General Manager, Waikoloa Village Association, P.O. Box 383910,
Waikoloa, Hawaii 96738, acknowledging this generous donation.
