Enclosed is a resolution accep{ng a donation of $10,000 from the Waikoloa Village As-s'~ciation
for the purchase of two (2) "Smart Signs." These signs will be used to help control speeding on
Paniolo Drive in Waikoloa Village by alerting drivers of their vehicle speed in real time,
This $10,000 donation is being made by Waikoloa Village Association, P.O. Box 383910,
Waikoloa, Hawaii 96738.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of $10,000 from the Waikoloa Village Association for the
purchase of two (2) "Smart Signs."
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge the donation of two (2) Smart Signs to the County of
Hawaii. These signs will be used to help control speeding on Paniolo Drive in Waikoloa Village by alerting drivers of
their vehicle speed in real time.
This $10,000 donation is being made by

RE: Resolution No. 24-07 (Resolution accepting a donation of $10,000 from the
Waikoloa Village Association for the purchase of two (2) "Smart Signs," or speed limit signs
which alert drivers of the speed at which they are driving, to be installed in Waikoloa Village)
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
