I have attended most of the Community Development Planning
Meetings in Wail+:oloa Village, as I awn a home here and one in the
Maana Lani Resort. I have observed the real stress on those of our
community that Gave ofl'ered their support for a more organized growth
with infrastructure that keeps pace with residential development. So
far we've not made much headway. We all. remember the 25,000 acre
fire that touched ns, and the recent earthquakes. We can look ahead to
the seriousness of the problem, if we do not relate to the protection of
the population by more careful planning. It is the primary aaroose of
government to protect its citizenry.
Refusing to allow rezoning for a reasonable period of time makes a lot
of sense to me. We are not finished with the CDP process and it is
producing results that need to be related to. I am arging you to enact
protection for the people of South Kohala. I am urging you to look
forward and stand np for the residents and their families of this area.
