I am Janet A. Nakamura residing at 17-329 Palaai Street Keaau, Hawaii 96749
As an educator for 45 years, I am against Bi11345 and would like you to not change the
defmition of the word "family" to include a group of not more than eight unrelated
persons, plus any program staff, living in a facility licensed by the Department of Health.
As an educator I am aware that our schools, grades K-12 always considering smaller
classes for students with special needs. The number is small to give individual lessons,
help, and counseling. Sometimes the ratio is one to one. I look at quality time for
learning.
I am also are concern with time on task. If my students are spending much time in their
transition from class to class I consider quality time lost or a waste of valuable time.
Safety for all is also important.
Are the clients in a safe setting? Are the members of a subdivision safe? Is the
community safe? Are the surrounding schools safe? Food for thought.
