RESOLUTION NO. 35 ~ 1~
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the American Legion is an organization of wartime veterans created by an
act of the United States Congress in 1919 with its membership being composed of veterans of all
wars; and
WHEREAS, members of the American Legion Kona Post 20 attend and facilitate funeral
services for wartime veterans in the Kona Community and perform twenty-one gun salutes,
blowing of taps, flag-holding and transporting senior member veterans to and from funeral
services; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Kona Post ZO's participation and facilitation of burial
protocol for wartime heroes provide veterans, their families and the community with a unique
and special service that respectfully honors deceased veterans; and
WHEREAS, discretionary funds from Council District 8 will be used to help the
American Legion Kona Post 20 defray the costs of performing this much needed service to the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth
below:

OUT AND FROM:
010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $3,000.00
CREDITED TO:
010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $3,000.00

BE TT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
forward a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and the Director of
Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in
accordance with the terms of this resolution.
