As part of the solutions to the traffic congestion in Kona based on the study dated 2000 and titled "Keahole to Honaunau Circulation Plan~'the connection of Manawalea Road to Keanalehu Drive provides another link between Kealakehe schools and for the residents of Laiopua. The project consists of extending Keanalehu Drive approximately 1,700 feet and Manawalea Street approximately 3,800 feet to the intersection of both roads.
