RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO
INCLUDE OFFICE SPACES TO ACCOMMODATE THE COUNTY CLERK/COUNTY
COUNCIL OFFICES IN ITS REDESIGN AND RENOVATION PLANS FOR THE
COUNTY BUILDING LOCATED AT 25 AUPUNI STREET, HILO, HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the County Clerk/County Council offices have temporarily vacated the
County Building at 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, Hawai` i, and relocated to various commercial
locations during redesign and renovation of the County Building; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County Council to return to permanent offices in the
County Building upon completion of its redesign and renovation; and
WHEREAS, the County Building is owned by the County of Hawaii and, therefore, is
the most economical location for the County Clerk/County Council offices; and
WHEREAS, the proximity ofthe administrative offices at the Aupuni Center Annex to
the County Building allows for a close working relationship between the executive and
legislative branches of our local government; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works' Building Division is responsible for the
interior redesign of new office spaces and structural renovation of the County Building; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
Department of Public Works' Building Division shall include adequate office spaces in its
redesign and renovation plans to accommodate the return of the Offices of the County
Clerk/County Council to the County Building at 25 Aupuni Street, Hilo, Hawaii; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forwazd copies of this
resolution to Hazry Kim, Mayor, and Bruce McClure, Director ofthe Department of Public
Works.
