I strongly support, Resolution 27 - 07: Transfers/Appropriates an Appropriation Out and From the
Designated Fund Account(s) and Credits Same to a Designated Fund Account(s).
{Transfers/appropriates $20,000 out and from Clerk-Council Services -Contingency Relief account;
credits same to Department of Parks and Recreation Parks Maintenance Other Current Expense
Honu`apo concrete Barrier(s).
Discretionary funds from District 6 would be used for the placement of 150 concrete barriers to protect
the shoreline and grassy areas at Honu`apo.}

I am a resident of Ka`u, Hawaii for close to thirty -five yeazs. With deep fondness and fervent support
of the Honu`apo Beach Park, I am asking you to please support Councilman Bob Jacobson's request for
the purchase of the 150 concrete barriers to "protect the shoreline and grassy areas at Honu`apo".
Our `ohana has experienced many happy years at Honu`apo together, with friends, neighbor islands and
other destinations. It's a beautiful park open to the ocean, lush green flora, well maintained, habitation
of notable wild and marine life with an abundance of leisure, ocean, social events and wellness related
activities utilized on a daily basis by all ages of our district, island and countless visitors from around the
world.
These concrete bazriers are essential to safeguazd the sea front and verdant vegetation restoratio,n-_,

protect picnickers and casual observance of the ambience -scenery. They would act, as a deterrent and
prevent cars, large trucks, off road - SUV (Sports Utility Vehicles) and off terrain motorbikes to drive on
the grassy areas. Additionally, a report(s) of a vehicle driving into the pond(s) was witnessed on more
than one occasion. Sadly, this is a direct threat to the estuary to endangered birds, home of edible fishes
and crustaceans.
Again, I humbly ask for your support for resolution 27-07, mahalo nui loa!
