Aloha -
The Salvation Army-Family Intervention Services requests your support in allowing the
change in residency for group homes from 5 to B unrelated individuals. We agree with the
amendment to limit the change to no more then one residence per tax map key per group
living. We advise, however; that a change be made to the bill in allowing not only Dept.
of Health licensed homes but other group homes licensed by the Dept. of Human Services.
Both Departments require strict inspections in renewal of licenses and therefore we are
requesting that the County Council be fair and objective in allowing both Dept. of Human
Services and Dept. of Health licensure to be included for your consideration.
The Salvation Army-Family Intervention Services operates emergency shelters, group homes,
transitional living foster homes for youth. We serve youth in-community and work with
their families, the community, schools and/or employers to integrate them into successful
and contributing members of the community. These are youth who reside in our county and
it is imperative that we work closely with their families, legal guardians, foster
families in order to make a successful transition. We ask your support to allow the
change gor group homes to care for our youth in need.
