I hope dais wtll not be temporary. "the Big Island probably has ten times as much land Suitable for development as dve5 Oahu. They currently require a ten lane highway to move their tratlic. Uur tw~~ lane beltway is adequate now, but gridlock is beginning in d~eiairnea and Kona. If de~velc>pment keeps vn dt the current parse, it is Drily a Yrsatt~r of tame before our beltway will require twc more lanes A quick calculation reveals that two rr?oee lames around the island would cost 6etweerr three and four billion dollars, This could happen without any new zoning. I would tharalt that the Council would try to think of ways to slow up development, even from existing zoning, Perhaps having a yearly limit on all developments of more than one house. But to re-zozse a property for higher density makes no sense at all, prom the standpoint of the coming infrastructure crisis. (',logged highways lower the quality of living for everyone on this island. Aloha, David Gaccia PO Box 1788 Honokaa, F3I 96727 G~,~~"~" r.M . . rv ~ortam. Inc,. ~ ~ Ref. T®::~o~:~ - Ref.
