Subject: Fin. Comm. -Reload Facility/Sort Station
.
Aloha Chairman Yagong and Finance Committee members!
Being a member of the Environmental Management Commission, but speaking only as an
individual, I have watched the course that has been taken with getting the Reload
Facility/Sort Station built.
There have been more stops than starts, and now we're at the point of needing an extra $2M
for it.
It's definitely time to move forward, letting go of the past Stallings. The County needs
and wants to protect an important resource; the landfill(s). Building this structure has
been difficult to get funded over the years, and we need to do all that can be done to
prolong the life of both the landfills and esp. the Hilo landfill, right now.
I urge you to fully support the DEM's request for an additional $2M and get the gears in
motion. Time is wasting and with each passing day, the County is losing precious landfill
space.
Mahalo for your consideration,
Marjorie Erway
