Dear Council Members:
I am a resident of Ocean View rind have been to many meetings about a future Transfer Station. I and
many others signed a petition to accept the location recommended by the investigating committee. The 9
acre site along highway 11, between Iolani and Kona is an ideal selection. This issue has dragged on long
enough.
At each meeting there were two grandstanding emotional persons who enjoyed being in the limelight,
who opposed the site. They stood out in a room full of people who need a Transfer Station. The only
valid objection they had was the chance that feral cats would be attracted. I feel that feral cats should be
addressed as a sepazate problem and handled by forbidding feeding of feral cats by the public. The feral
cats aze a Big Island problem and not restricted to Transfer Stations.
We need a Transfer Station. The longer this is delayed, will continue to cause hazdship to the people and
the environment. Action must be taken. We don't need further study or more meetings. We need a swift
decision.
If the site was going to be on the moon, some people would object that it is too close to them.
Please listen to the valid committee reports and the signed petitions, rather than to the noise of a few.
