Aloha-
The issue of Transfer Station for Ocean View has been in the process for 12 yeazs. Every yeaz it seems to get
hazder to select a sight because of population growth, hence fewer selections. The projection of 20 thousand
people in the next 5 yeazs seems conservative. The recent turn of events has led me to believe it's now or never.
In 2005 a group of individuals came to me and asked if I would help them because MM 86 was the designated
site for a Transfer Stafion for South Kona/Ocean View, After several meetings endangered Hawaiian plants and
animals were found in the azea, therefore no Transfer Station. One yeaz later at an Ocean View Chamber of
Commerce Meeting the issue appeared again. After 1000 hours of volunteer time, over five dozen several sites
were surveyed, investigated, and landowners were notified. Finally the proccesss narrowed down to one

six organizations in Ocean View and over 10 organizations in greater Ka'u have agreed that this is the site. You
will not be able to please everyone. The land is designated Ag 2Q, the location is perfect. This will not solve the
entire problem of illegal dumping but it is a start.
