It has come to my atention that the County Council is considering a
bill
that would allow any property designated as "Residential Use" to allow
as many as 8 unrelated persons to live in/on such a property, together
with an unspecified number of caregivers. Apparently this would apply
to any apartment, condominium, single-family dwelling, or ohana
property.
This makes a mockery of zoning regulations and potentially turns any
"residential neighborhood setting" into a "multiple family setting,"
to
say nothing o£ the fact that the word "family" itself is stretched thin
indeed when it can include 8 unrelated individuals. Talk about
environmental impact statements - what about water usage, wastewater
treatment, parking, noise, etc?
This seems to be a very ill-considered bill, and I urge that you vote
AGAINST its passage.
